Test Principle
The test plate with adhesive specimen is vertically hanged on the stand and its bottom is attached with a standard weight. The lasting adhesive property can be obtained by measuring the displacement of specimen on vertical test plate or the time to failure at such load.

Note 1: The described test standard, applications and product features should be in line with Technical Specifications.
Note 2: The parameters in the table are measured by professional operators in Labthink laboratory under strictly controlled laboratory conditions.
Note 3: DataShieldTM provides safe and reliable data application support. Multiple Labthink instruments can share one single DataShieldTM system which can be configured as required.
Precise Multi-Specimen TestingEffortlessly assess up to six adhesive specimens at once, facilitating comparative analysis and improved laboratory efficiency. The automatic timer and digital LCD display promote consistency and ease of use, while the bench-top design allows integration into any lab or quality control environment. The microprocessor controls enable semi-automatic test cycles for accurate, repeatable measurements.
Robust Construction and ComplianceBuilt from durable stainless steel and powder-coated steel for long-lasting performance, this tester is compliant with recognized industry standards such as ASTM D3654, PSTC-7, and ISO 8510. External dimensions of 400 x 280 x 420 mm and a manageable weight of 22 kg make it suitable for most workspace requirements.
User-Friendly OperationWith an intuitive interface, user-adjustable calibration, and fail-safe features like overload protection and emergency stop, the tester is straightforward to operate. The accessory kit-including calibration certificate and user manual-supports quick setup and reliable maintenance. The RS232 interface allows easy data export for further analysis.
FAQ's of Shear Adhesion Testers:
Q: How does the Shear Adhesion Tester operate during testing?
A: The Shear Adhesion Tester uses a microprocessor-controlled system to apply a standard weight (1 kg per position) to each specimen, measuring the time and force required for adhesive failure. The automatic timer begins when the test is initiated and stops upon detachment, providing results on a digital LCD display.
Q: What makes this tester suitable for adhesive tape and label evaluations?
A: It is specifically engineered to test adhesive tapes, pressure sensitive adhesives, and labels, with a test width of 25 mm and capacity for up to 200 N force. Its precise timer, consistent load application, and multi-specimen capability ensure accurate comparisons and compliance with international standards.
Q: When should the calibration be adjusted or checked?
A: While the tester is factory calibrated and arrives with a calibration certificate, users should periodically check calibration for best accuracy-especially before critical testing or as part of routine lab maintenance. Calibration adjustment is user-friendly and instructions are provided in the manual.
Q: Where should the Shear Adhesion Tester be installed for optimal performance?
A: For best accuracy and reliability, place the tester in a temperature and humidity controlled environment (15-35C, 40-85% RH). It is designed for bench-top mounting and suitable for both industrial and lab settings, thanks to its robust construction and space-saving footprint.
Q: What safety features are included with the equipment?
A: Safety is prioritized with built-in overload protection and an emergency stop function to protect users and prevent equipment damage during operation.
Q: How can the results be exported or documented?
A: The Shear Adhesion Tester features an RS232 interface, which allows users to connect the unit to a computer or data logger, enabling easy transfer and documentation of test results for further analysis or record-keeping.
Q: What are the main benefits of using this Shear Adhesion Tester?
A: Users benefit from high measurement accuracy (1% F.S.), rapid response time (< 1 s), simultaneous multi-specimen testing, and automated, fail-safe operations. These features increase testing throughput, reliability, and compliance with key industry standards.
