Principle
The pre-conditioned specimen is mounted in the gas diffusion cell as to form a sealed barrier between two chambers. The lower-pressure chamber is firstly evacuated, followed by the evacuation of the entire cell. A flow of gas is thereafter introduced into the evacuated higher-pressure chamber and a constant pressure difference is generated between two chambers. The gas permeates through the specimen from the higher pressure side into the lower side. The gas permeability and other barrier properties of the specimen can be obtained by monitoring the pressure changes in the lower chamber

FAQs of Accurate Gas Barrier Property Tester for Packaging Material Selection:
Q: How does the Accurate Gas Barrier Property Tester determine gas transmission rates?
A: The tester measures the permeability of packaging materials to gases like oxygen, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen using highly sensitive electrochemical or infrared sensors (depending on the model). Results are displayed in both graphical and digital formats for clear interpretation.
Q: What types of packaging materials can be tested with this equipment?
A: You can test single- or multi-layer films, sheets, and other flexible packaging materials. The instrument supports specimens up to 100 mm x 100 mm, with customization available for specific needs.
Q: When and where is this tester most beneficial for packaging manufacturers?
A: This equipment is ideal for use in research and development labs, production quality control, and supplier evaluation. Employ it whenever accurate assessment of gas barrier properties is essential for product shelf-life and compliance with international standards such as ASTM D3985, ISO 15105-2, and JIS K7126.
Q: What is the process for preparing samples and running a test?
A: Samples are prepared using a standard kit and clamped mechanically with a secure O-ring seal in the corrosion-resistant stainless steel test chamber. The instruments automatic control system manages the environment and test parameters, and analysis is conducted via the touch screen or PC software.
