Product Description
Principle
Under a certain test temperature, a constant humidity difference is generated between two sides of the test specimen. The water vapor permeates through the specimen and into the dry side. By measuring the weight changes of the test dish in different time, water vapor transmission rate and other parameters can be obtained.

Reliable Gravimetric Testing for Leather GarmentsUtilizing the ISO 14268 cup method, this equipment delivers dependable water vapor transmission measurements, vital for ensuring garment breathability and comfort. Its digital timer control and uniform test conditions produce consistent results, bolstered by a robust stainless steel and powder-coated MS chamber. Its semi-automatic nature makes the process straightforward for laboratory professionals.
Precision Calibration and Easy OperationThe equipment is supplied with calibration weights for accuracy (1%) and features easy sample mounting with secure clamps. Six specimens ( 80 mm each) can be tested in a single cycle, streamlining laboratory workflows. The digital display, rapid response time, and user-settable test duration enhance operational efficiency, while overload and short-circuit protection ensure safety.
FAQs of Test Water Vapor Transmission in Leather for Garments:
Q: How does the gravimetric (cup) method work in this water vapor transmission tester?
A: The gravimetric (cup) method relies on measuring the weight change of a cup containing a desiccant and covered by a leather specimen. As water vapor passes through the sample, its transmission rate is determined by the weight increase over the test duration, following ISO 14268 guidelines.
Q: What is the process for preparing specimens and starting a test?
A: Users can easily mount up to six leather specimens ( 80 mm each) using the provided clamps. After adjusting temperature and humidity within the chamber, simply set the timer, place the cups in stainless steel holders, and initiate the cycle using the digital controls.
Q: When should calibration of the machine be performed?
A: Calibration should be performed regularly or prior to critical testing, using the supplied calibration weights. This ensures accuracy within the specified 1% margin, maintaining compliance with ISO and related standards.
Q: Where is this equipment primarily used?
A: This tester is commonly used in textile and leather testing laboratories, especially those focusing on apparel quality for garments. It is suitable for manufacturers, exporters, and research institutions needing standardized water vapor permeability data.
Q: What are the benefits of using this digital water vapor transmission tester?
A: Benefits include high accuracy (1%), adjustable environmental conditions, automated digital timer control, rapid results, and the ability to test multiple samples per cycle. These features improve efficiency, ensure compliance, and deliver reliable permeability data crucial for garment production.
Q: How do the adjustable parameters enhance testing versatility?
A: The ability to set test duration (up to 30 hours), adjust temperature (20C40C) and humidity (5085% RH), plus variable test speed (6080 rpm), enables tailored testing for different leather types and quality standards, ensuring versatile application.
