Principle
The pre-conditioned specimen is mounted in the gas diffusion cell as to form a sealed barrier between two chambers. The lower-pressure chamber is firstly evacuated, followed by the evacuation of the entire cell. A flow of gas is thereafter introduced into the evacuated higher-pressure chamber and a constant pressure difference is generated between two chambers. The gas permeates through the specimen from the higher pressure side into the lower side. The gas permeability and other barrier properties of the specimen can be obtained by monitoring the pressure changes in the lower chamber

FAQs of Flexible packaging Gas Diffusion Coefficient and Permeability Tester:
Q: How does the tester measure gas permeability in packaging materials?
A: The tester assesses gas permeability by controlling the flow of a test gas (such as O2, CO2, or N2) through the sample material. It uses high-sensitivity sensors to quantify the diffusion coefficient and permeability rate, displaying results directly on the touch-screen interface.
Q: What types of materials can be tested with this device?
A: It is suitable for testing flexible films, packaging layers, sheets, and foils up to a specimen size of 100 mm x 100 mm. This versatility makes it ideal for use in food packaging, pharmaceuticals, and other industries monitoring barrier properties.
Q: When should the device be recalibrated for accurate results?
A: To ensure precise measurements, regular self-calibration using the built-in multi-point calibration function is recommended, especially after extended use or whenever the accuracy of results might be in question.
Q: Where can this tester be installed for optimal performance?
A: This tabletop device is best placed in controlled laboratory or industrial settings, maintaining an environmental temperature between 1535C and humidity of less than 85% RH for peak accuracy and reliability.
Q: What is the process for exporting and storing test results?
A: Test results are stored digitally, with the ability to save up to 1,000 records. You can export data via USB drive or RS232 interface and generate printable reports directly from the device.
Q: How does the device enhance safety during operation?
A: It incorporates overpressure protection and gas leak alarms to ensure operator safety. These features automatically alert users to abnormal system conditions and prevent hazardous incidents during testing.
Q: What are the main benefits of using this permeability tester?
A: Key benefits include highly accurate, programmable multi-gas testing, rapid data output, extensive storage, automatic operation, and comprehensive safety functionsmaking it an efficient tool for both R&D and quality assurance teams.
