Principle
The pre-conditioned specimen is mounted in the gas diffusion cell as to form a sealed barrier between two chambers. The lower-pressure chamber is firstly evacuated, followed by the evacuation of the entire cell. A flow of gas is thereafter introduced into the evacuated higher-pressure chamber and a constant pressure difference is generated between two chambers. The gas permeates through the specimen from the higher pressure side into the lower side. The gas permeability and other barrier properties of the specimen can be obtained by monitoring the pressure changes in the lower chamber

FAQ's of Evaluating Packaging Materials for Nitrogen-Filled Products:
Q: How does the pressure decay/leak detection test method ensure packaging integrity for nitrogen-filled products?
A: The pressure decay method detects even minimal leaks by monitoring pressure changes over time in the packaging when filled with air, nitrogen, or other inert gases. This approach helps confirm that packaging maintains its protective atmosphere, essential for preserving product quality.
Q: What materials and specimen sizes can be tested with this Packaging Material Tester?
A: The tester accommodates a broad range of materials, including films, laminates, foils, and pouches, suitable for both flexible and semi-rigid packaging. It supports standard and customizable specimen sizes and can test single or multiple samples at once.
Q: When should calibration and maintenance be performed for optimal accuracy?
A: Annual calibration is recommended, ensuring the test results remain within the accuracy range of 1% FS. A calibration certificate is provided with each unit, and the manufacturer offers onsite or online assistance for service and maintenance.
Q: Where is this packaging material tester best utilized?
A: This equipment is ideal for laboratory, quality control, and research and development environments across industries that utilize nitrogen or modified atmosphere packaging, such as food, pharmaceuticals, and advanced materials.
Q: What benefits does the PC data output and printable report feature provide?
A: PC connectivity via RS232 or USB allows users to store, analyze, and print detailed test reports, facilitating traceability and compliance with industry standards. This function supports efficient workflow and documentation in professional settings.
Q: How does the safety system protect the operator during testing?
A: The tester incorporates an emergency stop and overload alarm, ensuring immediate shutdown in dangerous situations. These safety interlocks are designed to protect users and prevent equipment damage during operation.
