Test Principle
Method A
Providing a constant air flux going through the specimen vertically, the air permeability could be obtained by measuring the pressure difference.
Method B
Providing the constant pressure difference between two sides of the specimen, the air permeability could be obtained by measuring the air flux through specific area in the certain time.

Its digital LCD display and automatic calculation features simplify interpretation, while the adjustable test speed and stable airflow system adapt to diverse testing needs.
Robust Construction with Stainless Steel ChamberEngineered with a stainless steel test chamber, the unit ensures durability and precision. The pneumatic specimen clamp holds samples securely without damage, accommodating one 100 mm x 100 mm specimen per test for optimal repeatability.
Comprehensive Compliance and Data ManagementFully compliant with major standards (ISO 9237, ASTM D737), the tester comes factory calibrated with a certificate. Its data can be output via USB or RS232, making archiving and reporting straightforward and efficient for quality assurance purposes.
FAQ's of Air Permeability Tester for Leather Jackets and Coats:
Q: How does the Air Permeability Tester evaluate leather jackets and coats?
A: The tester uses a pressure differential method to measure the rate of air passing through leather samples. By securely clamping a 100 mm x 100 mm specimen and adjusting airflow, the system calculates permeability in mm/s or L/min, providing accurate and repeatable results.
Q: What are the main benefits of using this tester for leather garment manufacturers?
A: Manufacturers benefit from automated calculations, factory calibration, and data storage capabilities for efficient quality validation. The tester ensures that leather jackets and coats meet international air permeability standards, supporting product consistency and certification needs.
Q: When should the Air Permeability Tester be calibrated or maintained?
A: The machine is factory calibrated and includes a calibration certificate upon delivery. Periodic verification as per internal quality protocols is recommended to maintain accuracy, especially before critical audits or after extended operation.
Q: Where is the Air Permeability Tester most suitable for installation?
A: Its benchtop design and moderate weight (approx. 22 kg) make it ideal for laboratories, manufacturing quality control rooms, or R&D departments focused on leather goods. Ensure an environment within 5C-40C and 20%-85% RH for optimal operation.
Q: What is the process for testing a leather jacket or coat sample?
A: Mount a single 100 mm x 100 mm specimen into the pneumatic clamp, adjust test parameters on the touchscreen control, and initiate the test. The stainless steel chamber ensures stability, and permeability results display on the digital LCD within 2 seconds.
Q: Which standards does this tester comply with and what does this mean for users?
A: It complies with ISO 9237 and ASTM D737, meaning results are accepted internationally for air permeability testing of textiles and leather, ensuring products meet regulatory and customer requirements.
