Testing Principle
The pre-treated sample is clamped between the test chambers, oxygen or nitrogen with stable relative humidity flows on one side of the film, and the high purity nitrogen flows on the other side; oxygen or water molecules diffuse through the film into high-purity nitrogen on the other side, and are carried to the sensor by the flowing nitrogen. By analyzing the oxygen or water vapor concentration measured by the sensor, the oxygen or water vapor transmission rate can be calculated.

FAQ's of Testing the Relationship between Thickness and Barrier in Packaging Materials:
Q: How is the relationship between thickness and barrier properties measured with this equipment?
A: The Barrier Property Tester uses a standard gas analysis method to evaluate how varying thicknesses of flexible packaging materials influence their barrier performance. It records and compares the test results for different specimen thicknesses, providing detailed data output for analysis.
Q: What is the process for conducting a barrier property test using this device?
A: Specimens are placed within the tester and parameters such as thickness, humidity, temperature, and test speed are set via the touchscreen interface. The automated system then conducts the test, measuring gas transmission rates and barrier properties, with results saved digitally for review.
Q: When should I use the built-in environmental controls during testing?
A: Activate the humidity and temperature controllers when specific environmental conditions are required, or if the packaging materials' barrier properties may vary under different climates. Adjusting these parameters helps mimic real-world scenarios and ensures more relevant test results.
Q: Where can the test results be accessed, and in what formats?
A: Test results can be viewed on the digital touchscreen display, printed directly via the device, and exported using USB or RS232 interfaces. The large internal memory allows storage and retrieval of historical data for comparison and reporting.
Q: What are the benefits of the automatically calibrated and integrated microbalance features?
A: Automatic calibration guarantees measurement accuracy without manual intervention, while the integrated microbalance ensures direct, precise weighing of specimens during testing. This reduces preparation time and increases reliability in recorded data.
Q: Can this tester accommodate different specimen sizes and quantities?
A: Yes, the device allows testing 1 to 5 customizable specimens, each measuring 100 mm by 100 mm, with selectable capacity options (10 N, 50 N, or 100 N). This flexibility enables users to tailor testing according to material type and requirement.
Q: Who would benefit most from using this Barrier Property Tester?
A: Exporters, manufacturers, and suppliers in the packaging industry benefit from its automated, accurate barrier assessments, which support material quality assurance, research, and compliance with international standards.
