Principle
The pre-conditioned specimen is mounted in the gas diffusion cell as to form a sealed barrier between two chambers. The lower-pressure chamber is firstly evacuated, followed by the evacuation of the entire cell. A flow of gas is thereafter introduced into the evacuated higher-pressure chamber and a constant pressure difference is generated between two chambers. The gas permeates through the specimen from the higher pressure side into the lower side. The gas permeability and other barrier properties of the specimen can be obtained by monitoring the pressure changes in the lower chamber

FAQ's of Differential Pressure Rubber's Gas Barrier Performance Test Equipment:
Q: How does the Differential Pressure Gas Permeability Tester operate in evaluating gas barrier performance?
A: This equipment assesses the rate at which different gases (such as oxygen, nitrogen, air, and carbon dioxide) permeate through rubber or film under controlled differential pressure. The test is managed by a microcomputer, providing fine control over temperature, humidity, and test environment, ensuring accuracy and repeatability.
Q: What types of materials and gases can be tested with this instrument?
A: It accommodates a wide range of materials including rubbers, films, and similar substrates. The supported test gases include oxygen, nitrogen, air by default, and carbon dioxide as an option, allowing for diverse barrier evaluations depending on your industry's requirements.
Q: When should calibration be performed and what methods are supported?
A: Regular calibration is recommended, particularly after extensive use or before critical testing. The system supports calibration using standard gases or calibration films, which ensures continued measurement precision and compliance with laboratory standards.
Q: Where is this instrument best utilized and what environments is it suitable for?
A: Designed for laboratory, R&D, and quality control environments, its compact benchtop format fits easily into existing lab spaces. It functions optimally between 10-40C with a maximum humidity of 80% RH, making it suitable for a variety of modern laboratory conditions.
Q: What is the typical testing process using this equipment?
A: Specimens (up to three at once) are placed into the chamber, test parameters are set via the LCD digital display, and the system automatically manages the process. Data is recorded and outputted as CSV or PDF, while safety protections and calibration checks maintain reliable operation throughout each test.
Q: How can the data output features benefit laboratory operations?
A: Automated data recording in CSV and PDF formats enables seamless documentation, facilitating analysis, audits, and traceability. Compatibility with Windows OS and standard interfaces (RS232, USB) allows easy integration into existing data management systems.
Q: What advantages does this tester offer over manual or less automated systems?
A: It delivers high accuracy (1%), exceptional control precision (0.2% FS), rapid response (1 second), and high throughput. User-friendly, programmable, and equipped with robust safety features, it elevates lab productivity and confidence in test results.
