Testing Principle
The pre-treated sample is clamped between the test chambers, oxygen or nitrogen with stable relative humidity flows on one side of the film, and the high purity nitrogen flows on the other side; oxygen or water molecules diffuse through the film into high-purity nitrogen on the other side, and are carried to the sensor by the flowing nitrogen. By analyzing the oxygen or water vapor concentration measured by the sensor, the oxygen or water vapor transmission rate can be calculated.

FAQ's of Essential Package Barrier Performance Tester for Medical Ointment Tubes:
Q: How does the Barrier Performance Tester measure gas transmission through medical ointment tubes?
A: It operates using the differential pressure (manometric) method, where the rate of test gas (O2, CO2, N2) permeation across the tube specimen is detected and quantified with high precision, in accordance with international standards like ASTM F1307 and ISO 15105-1.
Q: What is the process for setting up and using this tester in a laboratory environment?
A: Install the unit in a clean, dust-free lab, connect the power supply (AC 220V), and attach the gas source using the standard 6 mm quick coupling. The microcomputer-controlled touch panel guides users through parameter setup, specimen placement (up to 3 tubes), and test execution modes (continuous or intermittent). Results are displayed on the LCD screen, with data export and printing options available.
Q: When and where is this equipment typically used?
A: This barrier performance tester is utilized in quality control labs, research centers, or manufacturing facilities specializing in medical ointment tubes and pharmaceutical packaging. It is indispensable during product development and routine batch testing to ensure material compliance with barrier property specifications.
Q: What are the main benefits of using this tester for pharmaceutical packaging analysis?
A: Benefits include high measurement accuracy (1% of reading), quick response time (2 seconds), multi-specimen testing capability, customizable test parameters, automatic calibration, comprehensive alarm functions, and secure, exportable data management systems. These features lead to efficient and reliable barrier property assessment.
Q: How does the automatic calibration work and what standards are used?
A: Automatic zeroing and reference standard film calibration simplify routine checks and ensure measurement consistency. The process adheres to recognized standards, notably ASTM F1307, ISO 15105-1, and GB/T 19789, which regulate barrier property testing procedures worldwide.
Q: What gases can be used for testing and how is the test range customized?
A: Users can select oxygen, carbon dioxide, or nitrogen (other gases upon request) as the test medium. Test ranges and specimen sizes are customizable to accommodate various requirements, from a single tube up to three tubes simultaneously, within a measuring range of 0.01-10,000 ml/m224h.
Q: How are test results managed and exported for further analysis?
A: Test results are displayed in real time on a digital LCD touch screen. Data can be exported via USB or RS232 interface for further analysis using the included custom reporting software or printed directly if the built-in printer option is chosen, ensuring efficient recordkeeping and quality control.
